Paviland® Top PU

Two-component coating based on aliphatic polyurethanes, quick-drying with high chemical and abrasion resistance. Available in shine or matte finish. It has excellent adhesion to concrete, mortar, epoxy resins, and polyurethane resins. It also exhibits high abrasion resistance and very good chemical resistance.  This flooring product acts as a surface hardener for the substrate, providing good scratch resistance due to its toughness. Suitable for both interior and exterior floors.

Additional information

Composition

Two-component product based on aliphatic polyurethanes.

Features and applications

  • Excellent adhesion to concrete, mortar, epoxy resins, and polyurethane resins.
  • High resistance to abrasion.
  • Very good chemical resistance. High covering power.
  • Surface hardener of the substrate.
  • Good scratch resistance due to its tenacity.
  • High-quality industrial finishes.
  • Chemical industry. Commercial premises.
  • Interior and exterior surfaces.
  • Epoxy resin floor sealer.
  • Hygienic cleaning: non-porous surfaces which are easy to clean.

Substrates

  • Concrete with a suitable resistance (25N/mm2 minimum compressive strength and 1,5 N/mm2 resistance to tensile strength) open porous and light roughness.
  • Other substrates: natural and artificial stone, ceramic. For application on glazed ceramic, is it required a previous application of the PAVILAND PRIMER CERAMIC adhesion promoter.
  • Substrates must be resistant enough, stable, sound and clean. Free of dust, release agents, organic products, etc.
  • On cementitious substrates: before applying any product make sure all holes and / or cracks are previously repaired on the substrate by using products from our PAVILAND or MORCEMREST range. It is also advisable to carry out a milling or sanding process of the substrate with the main objective or opening the porous and remove any possible adhered materials such as greases, paints, etc.
  • The substrate must be completely dry, so the concrete must be cured enough.

Instructions for use

  • Homogenize components A and B separately.
  • Pour component B on top of component A and mix them with a suitable mixer at low speed, until getting a homogeneous product.
  • Apply a coat of PAVILAND TOP PU TRANSPARENTE BRILLO as a primer using a brush, short-haired roller, or airless. If the substrate is absorbent, add between 10 and 15% of DISOLVENTE PU PUMA. For non-absorbent substrates, apply undiluted.  With this first coat, we help regulate and homogenize the substrate absorption.
  • Apply one coat of the chosen PAVILAND TOP PU product (colour/transparent/gloss/matte) using a brush, short-haired roller, or airless, mixing the components A and B. Dilute up to 5% with DISOLVENTE PUMA PU (SOLVENT) depending on the application type, if necessary. The second coat, undiluted, is applied within the time-frames indicated in the schedule available at the end of this technical data sheet. Please note that these time frames are approximate and depend on environmental features.
  • The finish should be smooth and uniform. Uneven application or different thicknesses of the product might cause variations in the floor's tone.
  •  Protect the flooring during the next 48 hours after application.

Cautions and recommendations

  • Do not apply the product under temperatures of 5º nor above 30º.
  • Do not apply under the risk of frost, rain, heavy wind or direct sun light.
  • Use gloves and protective goggles when manipulating the product. In case of direct skin or clothes contact, clean the area with abundant water.
  • Keep away from children.
  • The substrate must be dry (less than 3% humidity).
  • Low temperatures or intervals exceeding 48 hours between coats can cause coverage issues between coats.
  • Any equipment and tools will be cleaned with water immediately after being used.
  • Once the product gets hard, it will only be removed by mechanical means.
  • It is necessary to always maintain proper ventilation in the application area.
  • Do not eat or smoke when manipulating the product.
  • Empty containers should be removed or thrown according to the current legislation.
  • On cementitious substrates, always apply the shiny version in the first coat and then the desired version (shine or matte).
  • As a consequence of the change in raw materials, the shades of the coloured mortars may vary slightly by batch.
