Additional information

Composition

Product based on especial agglomerates (it does not contain portland cement),   high purity aggregates, pigments and special additives.

Features and applications

  • Grouting mortar for pavements and claddings; for interior and exterior areas; suitable for all type of ceramics, porcelain clay tiles, marble, granite, vitreous mosaic and natural stone.
  • Highly recommended for areas where the applied product is required to be quickly ready to use and ready for traffic.Suitable for intense traffic and residential areas, swimming-pools, façades, balconies, terraces and radiant heating floors.
  • Aquastop effect: It repels superficial water from the joints producing a pearl effect,  the surface, with a very low porosity and minimum water absorption, makes the joint very easy to clean.
  • Bioactive technology: Avoids micro-organisms proliferation(fungi and algae) in humid environments.
  • Fast and easy to clean during its application with an optimum and fast finish.
  • Resistant to cracking and fissures due to its low retraction and great durability against abrasion and mechanic resistance even during frosting/defrosting processes.
  • Uniform colours, thanks to its saline efflorescenses blocking technology. It does not contain any Portland cements and therefore when it comes to the moisturising of the product, it does not produce any calcium hydroxide which leads to efflorescences, avoiding this unwanted effect in the colour and finish of the joint.
  • Colours resistant to UV rays and exterior exposure.
  • Good resistance against oils, solvents, alkalis and pH>3 acids.

Substrates

  • Before applying the grouting, make sure the adhesive is completely hard, taking into account that given timings in the data sheet have passed.
  • Empty joints must be dry and clean, without dust or any other adhesive rest; they should have a uniform depth, 2/3 minimum from the total thickness.
  • Some ceramic tiles may show sings of micro-porous or roughness in the surface area. It is advisable to carry out a preliminary test in order to verify that it can be cleaned and, when necessary, apply PROTECMOR (temporary pore sealer) , on top of the surface avoiding any possible stains of pigment from penetrating the porosity of the surface in the tiles.

Instructions for use

  • Add water (23%- 27%) and mix it manually or mechanically with a spiral mixer at low revs (400 rev/min aprox.) until getting a consistent paste (not a liquid one), homogeneous and without lumps. Let the mixture rest for 2 minutes and mix again.
  • As we are working with a fast drying grouting we should take into account that the amount mixed should be the adequate to be used within 20-25 minutes.
  • Fill the joints using a rubber trowel and firmly compact the material without leaving any gaps, remove any excess of paste while it remains fresh, using the rubber trowel in a diagonal sense from the joints and removing the excess of material.
  • Let the material dry for approximately 15 to 30 minutes, once the paste has turned matte, you may clean the surface with a hard sponge of great dimensions in order to avoid the damage of the joints, make sure it is slightly moisten, use rotating movements in order to remove the excess of hardened grouting and finish going over the joints with diagonal movements, often clean the sponge with clean water and always use a uniform quantity of water in order to avoid colour changes.
  • Just once the product is hard enough in the joints, we will be able to proceed with the polishing of the surface with a clean and dry cloth to clean the dust (try to avoid cleaning before time, because if the grouting is still wet, it might have effects and produce changes in the colour).
  • If the tiles were dirty or had lumps after cleaning them, you may use DESMOR cement remover (check instructions in its technical data sheet) in order to clean it, always use it on acid resistant tiles and make sure not  to touch the joints. Rinse the tiles with clean water to eliminate any possible remains of acids.
  • Grouted areas can be transited three hours after the product has been applied,  wait for 24 hours before putting it into service and 48 hours in tanks and swimming pools.

Cautions and recommendations

  • Do not apply it  under 5ºC or above 30ºC.
  • Do not apply it under freezing, rain, heavy winds or direct sun weather conditions.
  • Do not add water in excess, as it may reduce its final output.
  • Do not apply it on substrates that may suffer from rising damp.
  • Fill the joints once the pavement or the cladding is completely dried.
  • In case of very absorbent tiles or extremely high temperatures, before filling the joints, moisten them with clean water, using a humid sponge avoiding any excess of water.
  • Do not clean the joints with nitric acid or other kind of acids as it will affect the colour.
  • In tanks and pools wait at least 48 hours after the grouting has been applied before filling them.
  • MORCEMCOLOR ULTRA does not contain Portland cement and it should not be mixed with plaster or any other hydraulic agglomerates; never mix with salty or dirty water and never add water to a mixture that has already started its hardening process.
  • When acid resistance or high hygiene is required we suggest using MORCEMCOLOR EPOXI.
  • Do not use it with dilatation or division joints or joints which are held to structural movements during the work process, these joints must be refilled with a deformable material from the PUMALASTIC range.
  • Working times of the joint may prolong or reduce according to the environmental temperature and the water temperature of the mixing.
  • Do not clean with an excessive amount of water, or while the product is still fresh, to avoid carbonation and discolouration of the surface due to pigment dispersion.
