Substrates

The surface must be clean, free of dust, greases, or spare particles. It is advised to carry out a drip with sand or pressurized water (200 atm), which can sometimes be substituted by a mechanical or manual brushing, etc.

Instructions for use

Preparing the BANDA ELASTICA PVC:

  • Clean the strip, remove any sing of dirt and dust.

Preparing MORCEMREST EPOXI or CARBOTEC LÁMINA ADHESIVE:

  • Add component B into component A and mix with an electric mixer at low speed (400-600 RPM) until getting a complete uniform colour mixture.

Application:

  • Overlap the strip on the joint to calculate the area to be treated with MORCEMREST EPOXY T or CARBOTEC LÁMINA ADHESIVE, protruding at least 2 cm at each end of the strip with the adhesive.
  • Spread MORCEM EPOXI T or CARBOTEC LÁMINA ADHESIVE where required. The thickness of the adhesive may vary 1 to 2 mm depending on the substrate.
  • Place the strip on the MORCEM EPOXI T or CARBOTEC LÁMINA ADHESIVE coat before 30 minutes after applying the adhesive.
  • Press the strip using pressure rollers until the adhesive comes out through the anchoring perforations of the strip, ensuring complete bonding of the strip with the adhesive over 100% of the surface.
  • Finally, apply another coat of 1 or 2 mm of MORCEMREST EPOXI T or CARBOTEC LÁMINA ADHESIVE over the strip (previously cleaned) ensuring that it protrudes about 2 cm from the ends of the BANDA ELASTICA PVC This, combined with the previously applied coat, creates a sandwich effect with the strip in between.
  • The BANDA ELASTICA PVC contains, along its entire length and 1 cm from its two edges, two rows of perforations spaced 5 cm apart to improve its adhesion.
  • The BANDA ELÁSTICA PVC being thermoplastic, is easily welded using hot air, whether for corner joints or other connections. Only the blowtorch and pressure rollers should be used. The efficiency of the welding depends on the air temperature and welding time. The bonding surface must have a minimum of 50 mm.
  • For large movements or very wide joints, place part of the strip inside the joint forming a "U".
  • In joints where there is positive hydrostatic pressure, it is recommended to use a joint filler or sealing filler, and in the case of negative hydrostatic pressure (0.3-0.4 bar), installing a steel plate as reinforcement for the strip is recommended.

Cautions and recommendations

  • Do not apply on surfaces with water and moisten above 4%.
  • Do not mix MORCEMREST EPOXI T or CARBOTEC LÁMINA ADHESIVE at temperatures below +7°C or above +20°C.
  • Regarding the chemical resistance to salt-water, certain acids, and diluted bases, it will depend on the concentration, exposure temperature, and tank conditions. We recommend consulting with the technical department or conducting a preliminary exposure test for certain types of chemical substances.
  • Product based on epoxy which can irritate the skin, so it is recommended to always use it with gloves, protective goggles, and safety suits.
  • The tools and equipment should be cleaned with solvent immediately after use to prevent the adhesive from hardening, which will need to be removed with mechanical means.
  • Consult with the Technical Department for any application not specified in this Technical Data Sheet.
  • For any information regarding safety in handling, transportation, storage, and use of the product, please refer to the label and the updated version of the product's Safety Data Sheet.
